we’re planning to spend some weekends at campsites this summer. the municipal ones we stayed on a few years ago were great so thinking we’ll probably use those. does anyone have any recommendations in brittany?

Nice one on the Quiberon peninsula, right on the coast.
Also nice sites at Huelgoat and Carhaix

Camping le Pont de l’Etang in Cap Frehel – you get a sticker for your windscreen and pitch up where you will in the dunes. Lots of rabbits.

    Locmariaquer

Erquy – rue St Michel (owned but sadly no longer run by the municipality) view of le petit Mont st Michel.

    Etel

Penmarch – best pan au chocolats in Brittany (IMO) at the boulangerie

    île Tudy

Loads of lovely inland sites sadly not well-used e.g Bubry

Also, try Camaret if you can. Lovely site, town and area.

I second Camaret : And the walk around to Goulien (private campsite, excellent if a little crowded with surfers) is one of the best walks in Brittany.

thanks for the suggestions; really looking forward to trying some out :rose:

we had a house fire recently and are living in a flat in a nearby village so we just bought a tiny 2 berth caravan that was for sale locally and have it up by the cottage so we can stay over there and also have weekends away at the sea. here’s a couple pics of the caravan

Great little caravan, good to see Spike has claimed his spot :rose:

Looks perfect koat, Spike approves and looks very cosy. What a good idea to find some positive out of your traumatic experience by having some time to yourselves by the sea.

Very good idea Koat, I’m sure you’re going to have lovely holidays, and Spike too !

Looks really nice, Koat and as always Spike looks as if he’s bagged his place. Hope you enjoy your Summer, strange things can happen when a trauma like this happens, it could turn out to be the best Summer you’ve had in Brittany, if you what I mean? :rose:

booked first trip for next weekend :yahoo:

    heading here

it’s not a municipal but seems quite similar, is near Pont Aven (where I fancy visiting) and looks like it’s by a coastal footpath

Great Koat, nice to get a bit of an adventure with your caravan. I’ve looked at the web site and look like there is only a road to cross between the camping and the beach. The forecast doesn’t look bad too. Nice week end to come, enjoy it ++  :rose:

Good for you koat! As Babeth said the weather looks to be much better next weekend so perfect timing!

campsite was great and a bonus was that dogs (and horses) were allowed on all the local beaches (up to where the nature reserve/sand dunes start). lovely coastal path for walking/running too

Sounds and looks lovely, Koat, pleased you had a good time, I bet Spike loved it too.

Sorry to hear about your house fire, koat. How awful for you. ❤️

thanks Jazzy. it was a shock but we’re ok and i managed to get Spike out (he was there alone as E was at work and I was running). the maire and neighbours have been amazing so realise what a neighbourhood we live in. also the insurance will fix it :rose:

don’t think it’s municipal but staying on a great site in Douarnenez.  lovely relaxed vibe with good beaches, cafes etc
