After the latest firefox update I cannot cut and paste from google translate. The icons for this have disappeared. I googled the problem and it appears I am not the only one who is finding this. The solution seems to be to dowload the latest version of flashreader but I thought this was no longer supported. Totally confused now. Anyone else having this problem?

It is for issues like this that I have three browsers installed.  Firefox, Chrome, and Opera.  If one starts playing silly buggers I switch to another.

Sounds a good idea, I was always wary that having two browsers installed might cause a conflict.

I think you’ll be safe enough.  I use a home-built desktop running a cleaned up version of Windows 7.  I have tried it with all three browsers open at the same time and there is no interaction between them.  I tend to use Chrome when I need to automatically translate French websites but normally go with Opera, for its simplicity.  Firefox is the most customisable for me with a huge selection of extentions and add ons.  They all have their strong points.

I know this isn’t answering your question John P but I would use DEEPL for translation anyway. I don’t find Google Translate very accurate.

I have changed my default browser to Google chrome and yes I have cut and copy icons but hey-ho they don’t work!

Why is is it that every time someone meddles with a programme and updates it, something doesn’t work or you have to make twice as many actions  to get the same result?

Because they want to sell you a new computer/ipad/iphone that is compatible with the update .
