Yes but you have used the word “theory”, in theory if you travel at the speed of light for 24 years, how could the earth age 11,232 years?, it takes in real time 12 years there, 12 years back, how does time slow down for the people taking the journey?. Einstein no doubt explained it all somehow but it’s still only a theory.
Anonymous4th May 2016 at 4:25 pm #11927Scientific proof?, have I missed something about someone traveling at the speed of light?, personally I would assume time and speed are relative, the faster you travel the quicker you get there, but then I’m not Einstein, but anyway we need to shift into warp mode to get anywhere worthwhile. I have always had a great deal of admiration for the first people who decided to try an apple or a grape or other various plant life we eat today, Its the same with space travel involving humans, break down up there and you are on your own.
4th May 2016 at 7:41 pm #12013If you have not watched any of Steven Greer’s documentaries then I would recommend them, he has some interesting stuff on You Tube.
I love the time, speed and distance thing it makes the mind boggle but I’m sure we will eventually crack the time travel thing, it’s a long way off but look back at Star Trek and all those people walking about writing on little plastic tablets and consulting them when asked a question, reality now!
4th May 2016 at 8:10 pm #12031@Breadhead the thing that concerns me most about that is will we all have to wear those hideous pyjama/onesies? They are really not flattering…
@witchypoo I’m sure you would look very fetching in one of those
Anonymous4th May 2016 at 8:50 pm #12044The question is, if what looked like a space ship landed in your garden, and a wierd looking chap with pointy ears got out and offered you a trip to the stars, would you go?.
4th May 2016 at 8:56 pm #12048Only if they were wearing pyjamas bodiddly.
Also, nearly forgot to take the opportunity today to say May the Fourth be with you5th May 2016 at 12:15 am #12108Do any of you remember ‘journey into space’ on the ‘wireless’ I used to listen to it ( no TVs then) and hide behind the sofa, it scared me to death, but I still loved it, and remember the music theme tune now. my son is grown up but is still an avid dr who fan.
Anonymous5th May 2016 at 2:18 am #12121I’m all grown up but also an avid doc who fan, plus star trek, Stargate, Babylon five, Battlestar Galactica, in fact anything spacy or games of throney, am looking forward to the new star trek TV series and the latest star trek film, also love all the super hero movies which are getting darker and darker, if you hav’nt seen it watch Jupiter ascending excellent story. But anyway I’m not to bothered if aliens exist or not as long as they keep sticking them in movies.

This is a very good read on the subject.

we would have been visited by someone from the future by now.
There are many examples of unexplained images of visitors from the sky in the artwork, sculpture and artifacts from ancient cultures.
Images of what have been described in ancient languages as “space men” or “gods coming down from the sky in a cloud of fire” etc the images show what sometimes looks like someone in a space helmet.
There is a very clear image on an old stone carving in an ancient egyptian temple of flying machines, helicopters etc.
All this evidence is from widely separated cultures who couldn’t communicate with each other.
Maybe Arthur C Clarke wasn’t too far off the beam in the first part of 2000 Space Odessey!Anonymous6th May 2016 at 11:57 pm #12901I have no religion,
except, perfectly willing to accept that I am unable to BEGIN to appreciate the vastness and probably endless possibilities in the universe,
how presumptious are we to come up with our explanations of creation, “gods” etcccccc
Surely, in the indescribable vastness of the ‘known’ UNIVERSE? there must be a better offer than UZZ LOT. (I HOPE) -
