It’s worrying how greatly things have been affected

I have been on the train a few times today and didn’t see much in the way of delays but I believe others have been more impacted

We tried to do an online purchase today and both our CA bank cards were refused, plenty of money in the account, not over our spend limit, the transaction didn’t get as far as the phone security code, just refused straight away. Shopping tomorrow could be interesting – better make sure we take the cheque book !!

There was a lady at Intermarche drive in floods of tears because her cards were refused.

I had no problems with my cards yesterday at Lidl and Leclerc.

Most of the problems with computer systems I have had recently is because they “can’t think outside the box” if you are dealing with a human being the solution is usually obvious.

It’s a wake up call for cash not to be banned, and for people always to carry some cash with them.

Meantime we are told all of this mayhem was due to a system update? I wonder…..

Cash Is King and so are a Pen and Paper Thank goodness Austria is at least one country that recognises that fact!

We were still in southern Uk yesterday…we were told in shops on entering….cash only.

Late afternoon in the big supermarkets…things seemed normal.

I used my card several times yesterday with no issues

It was obviously regional…but it does make you réalisé how tenuous the system is.

There are lots of valid arguments for not banning cash. I for one always have an amount of cash in me, for one thing I can keep a better check on what I’m spending, it’s very easy to swipe a card and not realise how much money has gone.

IT experts warn it could take weeks for global tech infrastructure to fully recover after a botched software update brought down systems worldwide.

The massive disruption to Microsoft systems has included flight delays and cancellations, as well as impacting hospitals, banks, supermarkets and millions of businesses.

    KEY POINTS
-Dozens more flights cancelled as impact of Microsoft IT outage spreads into weekend
    – Close to 7,000 flights cancelled globally yesterday including 207 UK departures, data shows
    – National Lottery app and website goes down across UK amid global IT outage
    – ‘The largest IT outage in history’
    – CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz says sorry to customers
    – Cyber security software linked with outage

Such a shame as so many people have been affected by this.  It is always important to keep some cash available at all times. Massive lesson learnt by many.

In Jersey there are an increasing number of places that are “no cash  cards only” – I so hope they were affected!

No problem at all – you wouldn’t know anything was amiss – fuel pumps and checkout.

In my garden early this morning I heard passenger planes overhead seemingly one after the other so I guess they’re catching up.

Yes, the skies are full today.

Flight radar is showing flights into Heathrow passing just West of Rye.
