Shedloads of money can be saved by using conventional methods of internet access, like desktops & laptops. And keeping touch with friends and family can be done with an ordinary telephone or “dumb” mobile using your actual voice and/or text messages. It is not yet compulsory to put your life on a “smart” phone (aka Tracker) as much as the industries concerned would like it. Your life is now a commodity, and your data is bought and sold on the open market. They are counting on you not giving a damn.
Yep. Won’t be carting my laptop or one of several tablets around with me when I go out. Eg my friend’s parents were both carted off with covid, near Cannes .He’s based in Ireland so quite a shock for him. He whatsapped me for some moral support. I happened to be out by the lake with Cassie so I sat and had a good chat with him- with my actual voice no less. It works for me and my friends so no point knocking it.
As a full time carer and pensioner because I cant work, the ‘shed loads’ of savings make a difference as does the total ‘mobility’ with this app.
The camera lens quality is also excellent.
No one here is trying to force anyone to have or use a smart phone, it’s a thread for information sharing not judgement.
Hi,what is the Covid App please, what did you mean when you said”don,t open it until you leave”,just trying to gather as much info as possible on all this, thanks,TC.
The TousAntiCovid app can let you know if you’ve been near someone who has the virus. You can disable this facility if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
It gives you the latest news and figures regarding Covid.
It allows you to fill in an attestation which is saved in your phone and thus saves time and trees. The details you last put in are there on the next attestation you fill in (which you can change if necessary) and the date and time are pre-filled. This is why Marmite implied you should wait until you are ready to go, if time is relevant to the attestation. The starting time and date of the attestation will be when you save it. As it is a very quick process, this is not tiresome.
I have put M et Mme on one attestation, although there is only room for one date of birth. I haven’t been asked to produce an attestation so don’t know whether this is considered irregular.
Seabadger “If you are paranoid about being tracked, simply disable the GPS on the smartphone.”
Before smartphones upped the surveillance game with GPS tracking it was easy enough to track any mobile smart or dumb using cross referencing of the cell towers. Not as convenient as a one-click solution for Big Brother but just as effective.
I’m not paranoid about any of this. I just don’t see the need for it and since much of the data is sold on for commercial purposes and they’re not giving me a percentage or offering to pay for my connection, I will resist it in any way I can.
Do you not lock your front door when you go out? You still might be burgled but you don’t want to make it any easier for them, I assume.
Mr marmite just home after his first outing with the iPhone ..loaded with his attestation..fortunately he wasn’t asked to show it because I doubt he would have found it….I tried !
he has his printer ink …so can now print some off.
note to self…find some online…these were very expensive.
we still have colored refills from before,I know some printers are cheaper to refill but honestly we don’t print a lot so our printer is a cheap ,base model.
