Because I knew I would never be able to go again I filled to the brim the two days I spent in Singapore.
I went up in the cable car, to the Botanical Gardens, The Gardens be the bay ( both in daylight and in the evening) The Orchid Garden, The Flower Dome, Chinatown and on a river cruise, it was wonderful and here are a few photos.
The food was wonderful Tina, but I love Chinese food so I enjoyed everything.
The most unusual meal ( I never knew what I had ordered, unless I found a waiter who spoke English, so just went with it!) well, different anyway in the way it was served was as follows.
While waiting for the food a pleasant little chap brought me an over the head bib ” Has my history of dropping food down my front gone before me?” I wondered, then I noticed other diners wearing these bibs. He then gave me a couple of little packets of specs cleaners. ” Goodness me whatever am I going to eat?” I wondered.
When the food came it was a piping hot pot of soup which was placed on a hot plate in the centre of the table ( I hadn’t noticed it) then a dish of raw vegetables was brought and some rolls of bruiscetta ( spelling?) type meat. It took me a while to realise that I was to dip the veg etc into the hot soup and cook it!
As I looked around me the other diners were gaily dunking all sorts of different ingredients into their soup. It was all very tasty and an unusual experience.
The experience didn’t end there, when I went to pay the pretty young lady said I had a discount, I didn’t understand her explanation of why, then, when I had paid, she invited me to help myself to a free gift from a little stand by the till, I chose a little microfibre hand towel. And all for what equated to about £7!!!
