I have just watched today’s ladies match between England and New Zealand. It was so refreshing after the debacle of the Lions tour to South Africa.

We saw skilful motivated players playing with so much pride passion and commitment. Once again the ladies have shown the men up.

The result was a record win for England against a NZ team who hadn’t played for two years.

If you missed it, there is the same fixture next weekend.

I was pleased to hear Brian Moore commenting too, as I had it in my mind that he had been seriously ill.

I didnt see match but have seen some and agree top skills and quality is on offer in Womens Rugby.

Our friends Sue and Dave had 2 daughters between 1979 & 1984, we had 2 sons. Neither of ours took to rugby at school, ( I loved it, got knee trouble in my 20s so kaput) but Kate their elder daughter took to it –out of school in an enlightened local rugby club in Dorset about 1993— like a duck to water and played for years into adulthood.

So well done her and all the fine people and players who illuminate the game these days.

Great performance from England ladies.  Full blooded stuff with no quarter given and the home side looking classy in a big win.

Yes, I think Brian Moore has been ill so it’s great to hear him again. Our paths crossed many times when he played for England. I was living near St Claud in Charente at the time and he was a regular visitor and resident at the Chateau de Nieul down the road. He would often be seen jogging around the country lanes.

    Nice guy.

    Absolutely Stepaul.

PJ, I like The fact that Brian Moore is a qualified referee as well as a barrister. He can present an educated opinion and proper argument.

Many presenters these days seem to be there without the knowledge and experience of their subject.

I also watched dome of the ladies Football semi finals. They too played with skill passion and for their teams. It highlight s problem in the mens games. Are they just paid too much or sre there other issues?

The ladies chased every ball and gave 100 per cent effort. They have my respect.

    Quite agree.

I recommend you to watch a ladies rugby league game, now that is real entertainment. The tackles are brutal and the committment is total.

Abd they don’t fall over any time an opposing player comes near.

I am not impressed that Jones is starting Farrell at 10 against Tonga.
it will prove nothing positive. It is a match we should win comfortably but with Farrell calling the shots, we will see.

I have just discovered that none of the autumn series are on terrstrial tv.

You have to have Amazon to see it!

I very much enjoyed the game. The tallent on display was immense. Too many stupid penalties given away and for me the man of the match was Nigel Owens Mk 2 the ref. at one point he even sounded like Nigel.

I have just watched Ireland v New Zealand, a most enjoyable game.

The referee was superb and it was noticeable that like Lewis Hamilton, the All Blacks did not like it when they were not having it all their own way, they played poorly under pressure when behind – also a bit like Hamilton.

What rubbish, Hamilton is a seven times World champion and holds the records for the most wins (100), pole positions (101), and podium finishes (178) and as ever the press build up such a person for the joy of bringing them down, such is the British press. Unless you have never bothered to judge him for yourself, he has fought his way from the back to win and has always praised the winner. As for the all Blacks, no shock there, third time in 5 matches the Irish have turned them over.

    13th November 2021 at 8:49 pm #563141

Yes, Hamilton has done outstandingly well, in the fastest car with arguably the best team but he whinges like a baby when things arent going his way.

Now is his chance to prove that he can win the title without thr fastest car.

You could say the same thing about Schumacher. Hamilton won his first F1 World title in 2008 with Maclaren, so how was that the fastest car? Then he went to Mercedes in 2013  and from there he was always challenged to win his next F1 titles and on a few occasions had to come from behind to win the title. So none of that crap, he is a worthy F1 winner and as for your accusations about him whinging, I guess all World champions at most sports like to have a groan on occasion but Hamilton then goes out to justify himself but you act like the British press and just knock the chap down and belittle his driving skills by stating he only wins races as he has the fastest car, which is the point, the car is driven by the driver, the car is only as good as the driver. Bottas has the same set up, there you go, so did Rosberg who beat Hamilton…..

I watched the rugby feminin France V Black Shirts yesterday, my interest was ignited by the England V Black Shirts last week. I think the rugby feminin is just as good as the mens any day. Only caught the second half of the Ireland/All Blacks match.

I do think the men (and the spectators) benefit from a higher class of refereeing though, understandable given the experience of those referees.

As for the temperament comparison between Hamilton and Verstappen, I think that the recent two crashes between the two illustrates the difference, not only between the drivers but also between Wolff and Horner.

Wolff also had a fair point about Red Bull (they repaired cracked wings last weekend) being given the opportunity to repair a failed component whereas that opportunity was denied to Mercedes, simply by the inordinate delay in the decision. And normal F1 protocols should have allowed Mercedes to repair the rear wing.

Referring back to the Silverstone incident, yesterdays off by Verstappen (between him and Sainz) demonstrates how he’ll refuse to give ground, even when its in his own best interest.

Watch the Ladies rugby league Bobby, it’s even better than the RU.

Interesting you say Black Shirts for the NZ women’s team, Bobby, when I watched France do a number on the yesterday they were referred to as the Black Ferns.

Let’s see how the French male team does against Georgia today, a final score equivalent to the 8-0 drubbing the French football team achieved against Khasakstan last night would be good.

    Thanks for the correction.

Just watched England, they were superb – the ladies that is.

The men against Australia ground out a deserved win ( Its on You tube now) they have good potential but at present are not nearly as good as Ireland. I still cannot see why Farrell is in the squad.

    14th November 2021 at 8:04 pm #563210

I watched the Girls destroy the Black Ferns last week and I watched the match against Canada today, sat alongside The Voice who is currently watching TV without glasses for the first time in years after her first cataract op.
    Outstanding rugby.
Courage, commitment and skill from them all, both sides.
I introduced a great friend of mine to rugby a few years ago and today he phoned me.
He had watched his first women’s professional rugby match.
    Ever.
    England V Canada.
I picked the phone up and had an eardrum assaulted.
    Quote.
‘Why dint ya tell me bout this!
    God…. this is crazy.
My wife telled me to stop hollerin at the TV.
    They ain’t wimmin, they’re demons.
You don’t wanna marry one of them, she’ll slap you for misbehavin.
I could not answer for laughing at his reaction.
So now I owe him a beer.
Just got to work out how to get it to Seattle.

If ever proof was needed about Lewis Hamilton, today’s F1 in Brazil highlighted just how much of a genuine racer he is. And for groans today, Horner and Verstappen easily took the honours but for the actual F1 race Hamilton was in a different league, he went from tenth on the grid to taking the chequered flag ahead of the Dutchman who groaned and moaned about being overtaken by Lewis……… :good:

Er. Calm down Stinky! RW I havent seen Lewis Hamilton nor Verstappen playing rugby, RU ok? ( that`s a pun).

I did look at the highlights of this week Autumn Men`s Internationals on-line. Ireland look top-notch. If you want to see the most brilliant try (Fiji, a bit like the Barbarians most famous try) look at the Wales match. France typically wobbly but win. But I fancy Scotland next year for 6 nations.

Read the post Pestual. It was a quote.
I do not need to calm down.
I still remember your nastiness to me that got you banned.

Did anyone watch the France-All Blacks match? Cracking rugby from les Bleus and a well-deserved win by a decent margin.

    21st November 2021 at 12:48 pm #563482

France were awesome. They looked more like the All Blacks than the All Blacks did. A very well deserved win and a very clear warning for the 6 nations and next years home world cup.

England ground out a win against South Africa. For much of the match they wasted possession conceding penalties and kicking ball away as they normally do against SA, however they had much more intent and variation than they have of late, which led to threats and points. Things improved when Ben Youngs went off and the younger / newer guys were outstanding in their positivity and creativity and in there resolve to fight to the very end. I do not think they would have won had Farrell played.

This team showed to the world if not to Eddie Jones that there is huge potential looking forward beyond the days of Youngs and Farrell. A lot of work needs doing very soon if we are to mount serious challenges for the 6 nations and the world cup.

My early guess is that the Webb Ellis Trophy will be staying in the Northern Hemisphere after the world cup.

The Girls are playing the US this afternoon.
Chores are being finished with rapidity.
Anticipation of good rugby and a couple of beers, ooooooh.

    21st November 2021 at 6:07 pm #563496

Undoubtably the best team on the world, men or women in rugby and perhaps in sport.

We have about three interchangeable first teams.

I feel for the opposition but also understand they need to learn. USA today continued to try to throw difficult balls into the line out when all it did was give us even more ball. Bad coaching not bad players.

    21st November 2021 at 6:53 pm #563499

I am exhausted after watching that.
England outstanding, never resting on laurels, pressure to the absolute last second.
US, outclassed, but more importantly, as Bonjour said, needing much better coaching, nevertheless fought against an avalanche of points to the last.
    They kept trying.
    Beaten, they kept trying.
Playing the best team in the world, they kept trying.
    Such good rugby.
    Well done both teams.
