    Evening all, :bye:

we are doing a budget for re-roofing the house and I am looking for some back of the envelope calculations.

We will be replacing all the volige and tiles, the A frames are fine, and there are two lucarnes to be tidied up. I have been told 75 euros per square metre will give me a working cost for the materials. Is this accurate from anyone who has done it recently ?

Just materials, no labour and no quotes right now, we are still in the process of shaking out the piggy bank.

    Ta in advance.

I have a good friend who is a roofer in the morbihan, I shall ask him when I see him to look at this if he has time and let you know his thoughts. I hope that you get it done well and within budget. Bon chance xx

Seventy five euros a square metre for materials seems high to me given that you’re only needing the volige, ardoise and crochets. It all depends what quality of slates you choose but I know forty is more than possible. Zinc guttering adds to the bill.

Bear in mind that if you buy the materials, TVA will be 20% whereas if  an artisan buys them the rate is 5.5%. He will probably mark up his purchase price, but you can negotiate with him. His guarantee may also be affected.

Agreed Abi K, but we are doing a budget right now, so need to know is 5 k or 15k the nearer cost.

And have seen Raikes work – very well done, will be looking into them.

Thanks all – we had a clearer picture of what we can do now.
