No Fish and Chips but Mimosa and sheep today. What an idyllic place to farm, close to la Villaine

Thanks, Pumpkin. I went to Tucson, in the early 90s and we stayed on a ranch for a few weeks. On one of the first evenings, my Mum and I were driving into Tucson for dinner and as we drove off the ranch the sun was setting and the whole sky was the deepest red that I had ever seen. Darn it! Hadn’t got my camera with me! I never saw such a sunset for the rest of our stay. That sight stayed with me forever. I went back to the USA every year but never to Arizona until a couple of years back, Robert and I were there and stayed in a Spanish style hacienda for a few weeks in the desert – every night we went up on the roof terrace, with our wine and whatsits, camera in hand and the sunsets were just as you see them – unbelievable and lasted maybe up to 15 minutes from before the sunset until the last glow disappeared. Unlike so many other sunsets that are beautiful for the two minutes while the sun is disappearing beyond the horizon. Nothing like the desert at night –  the soft nickering sounds from nearby horses,  coyotes barking and the crickets clicking. Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

This year I bought a Countryfile Calender but judging by these pics, perhaps Wizzard should bring out a UIB Calender featuring some of these contributions, maybe a few important numbers such as le Pompier and even a few adverts from the business directory etc.

I would buy one to help fund the site.

    Keep this post going!

THIS IS NOT MY PHOTO! But isn’t it magnificent – I will post tomorrow if I get one half as good tonight – through the clouds!

Photo above: Jacob Zimmer caught a full supermoon rising over downtown Tampa, Florida, on December 3, 2017.

In 2018, the month of February had no full moon at all.

But this year’s February presents the biggest full moon supermoon of 2019. From around the world, the moon will look plenty full to the eye on both February 18 and February 19 as it parades across the nighttime sky. It reaches the crest of its full phase on February 19 for much of the world. What’s a supermoon? It’s a popularized term for what astronomers call a perigean full moon. In other words, it’s a full moon near perigee, or closest to Earth for this month. This February 2019 full moon reaches its exact full phase closer to the time of perigee than any other full moon this year. Hence the year’s closest supermoon.

    Sooooo cute 😍

Wonderful Babeth – HOW did you get it showing SO big ? What setting? That is fantastic! I forgot  ! Trying to home the last of the 6 kittens and had someone on the phone tonight, so, the moon had risen! Now all I have is a round white blob! I’ll try to do better tomorrow as it is rising. The silhouette of the pony is very moody and lovely.

Fruitcake – your Moon photo is terrific too – looks like it is ooozing out of the chimney!  Good luck with lambing (?)

    19th February 2019 at 10:39 pm #458181

No special setting Cheekiweeki, I’ve zoomed on it and I think it’s just a matter of perspective !

    20th February 2019 at 3:46 pm #458289

the sky is clear so, I must try to get a good moon shot tonight!  Babeth, I am sure you are looking for UiB member photos on this post, but as this is topical yesterday and today I thought to copy these few that came on ‘Earth Sky News  ….
