Does anyone have an outlook.com email account? I have and Microsoft or whoever have just changed to format/layout of the site and I’m struggling with it! The main problem being when I want to write a new message or reply to one there’s a bar at the bottom of the message page ( like the one at the top of this page when composing a message) giving you options to change the font etc, and as soon as my keyboard pops up and I go to type anything so does this bl**dy bar, so I can only see the line I’m actually typing which is most annoying! Is there anything I can do to stop that bar from moving up and blocking the rest of the page and what I’ve already written? Hope I’ve made sense, it’s hard to explain!

I’d be grateful for any help please.

I use an Amazon Kindle Fire (HD 10)

I don’t use Hotmail and it may work differently, but Gmail did an update backalong and I had a similar problem, Tigre. I eventually worked out that to close it, I had to click on the underlined A on the main bar which is ‘Formatting Options’ when scrolled over. Hopefully it’s the same, if not, hope you get the answer, as it was annoying.

Thanks for the reply tournesol, I’ve tried what you’ve suggested but it hasn’t made any difference.

    Hi again tournesol,

I’ve just noticed three ( faint) dots next to the ‘ bin’ symbol, when I tapped on them it displays a list of commands, one being ‘hide format symbols’ I’ve unticked it and that seems to have worked. It looks as if it needs doing everytime! Thanks so much for your help! :rose:

The page is still cramped as there are now adverts on the left hand side, another annoyance!!!

Hi Tigre, you’re welcome, but sorry it didn’t work out that simply, but really pleased you tracked down Hotmail’s way of switching it off. :good:   Strange and a PITA that you have to do it each time though. :negative:

Never used anything but a laptop. Are there any adblocking things for a tablet?

Not sure about the adblocking for tablets, I’ll have to look in to it, I have to admit to not having a lot of patience with this sort of thing!

    Thanks again.

Tech, especially at the moment, has proved invaluable. When it goes wrong though and quite often turns out to be the simplest thing, it is damn frustrating and can test the patience of a saint.

I have a love/hate relationship with technology, my email page changed the format last week, to a new addition, spent too much of my remaining life trying to sort it out, in the end, had to get my son to change it back to how it was previously if they are going to change something make it easy to change it back, should you wish to do so, not endless hours clicking on this and that.

It is frustrating tournesol, I appreciate that these things are often upgraded, it will always be the case, but why they can’t give account holders the option if they want them, I really don’t know.  Too easy I suppose!!!!

Whatnow, if I could change the bl**dy thing back to the old format I would without any hesitation, but I’m not sure that’s  possible!

Any advice from your son on how to do this would be gratefully received!

I agree, Tigre. They should give plenty of warning with the choice to change to the new, not them doing it automatically. Some things they say are for security, but others it seems are just ‘kids’ at play. I think we’re of the same mind, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
