We are now victims of these non cars.

Yesterday during a day out at the coast we decided to stop for lunch, we found a likely looking hotel restaurant oposite the beach with a fantastic view of the bay.

We pulled into the carpark behind the hotel, took a minute or two to take in the view and went to the restaurant.

When we came out the acces road to the carpark was blocked by a big shiny Audi, it was slap bang in the middle of the road with no chance of anything passing.

It was electric and had broken down. 3 hours later a recovery wagon arrived.

a colleague of mine from the USA tells me they are seeing a lot of problems this year with battery powered robot mowers catching fire, which is a concern in those areas prone to wild fires, especially as in the USA a lot of manufacturers are rapidly pulling out of the petrol powered mower market (Honda, Husqvarna, Briggs & Stratton to name a few)

    Edit

it is not just the US market Honda (and others) are quitting production totally worldwide

It seems that Slippery Sunak is backing down on the requirement for us to all have these cars, now that the manufacturers are no longer geared up to make diesel and petrol vehicles. He really does take us as idiots. Before we get the usual, Starmer wants to let Brussels decide how many immigrants the UK takes each year.

The politicians of all parties, especially the leaders, are desperate to come up with something that will strike a chord with the public with an election on the horizon. I think they have ignored the will of the people for so long now, none of them have a clue what the people really want. Let’s face it the only time politicians listen to the electorate is when they want their votes.

I think that I will stay in my field in France with my 17 yr old diesel and my pushbike for when I want to go for a beer.
    Happiness is.

Just read that motorway stations are hiring Marshall’s to control the charging of electric cars…as there have been cases of road rage and people fighting over the charging places….fed up with the long waits.

so let’s all rush out and buy electric cars so we can join in the fun.

What happens if you hire a car for a long journey, do you have to go from place to place to pick up a charged one, in the way they used to swap horses years ago?

    1st October 2023 at 10:22 am #592009

Yes..is the short answer…but if it’s a holiday…Christmas for example …your horse may have to wait 6 hours to reach the hay.

You are on top form today Marmite.

There will have to be charging inns and a 4 hour journey will take a day. And if you pass through Wales add on a few more hours for the 20mph limit.

How much does a horse cost to buy and run?

    You need a stable ,a shovel…and hay…and a field.

    we had donkeys…loved them.

21 dead in Italy as an electric bus crashes and burns. Bus left the carriageway possibly following a medical incident by the driver then dropped 10 metres and burst into flames. Reports are a little sketchy so far.

Odd how the mainstream media dont  mention the details of it being electric and catching fire is this another case of selective reporting especially any downside of electric vehicles

RIP all those that lost thier lives

It turns out the bus was powered by methane not electricity – yet another hazard brought to you by the caring, sharing eco-mentalists.

    Tragic, very sad.

There are likely to be multiple casualties in any vehicle that falls several metres onto anything, let alone a railway line.

I don’t think we can blame the type of vehicle for this.
