Apart from not being able to handle a bacon sandwich, Milliband the Moron has made his first big mistake and it’s only the first week of the new Liebour government….!!
“Ed Miliband has ordered an immediate ban on new drilling in the North Sea in a decision that overrules his own officials and risks triggering a wave of legal action.
In an unusual intervention into what is typically an apolitical process, the Energy Secretary has told regulators not to approve a new round of drilling that was slated for confirmation in the coming weeks.
His decision to block the licences means that companies will have wasted millions of pounds on preparing their bids, with experts warning they are likely to take legal action as a result”
That’s right, upset the very companies that supply the UK’s energy for heating and electricity.
So the result is likely to be that said companies will simply not bother to operate in the UK in the future, as may any company involved in the energy business.
Industry representative Offshore Energies UK’s response is not a happy one:
“We remain deeply concerned that some of the new proposals being put forward for our industry will undermine the energy transition we all want to deliver. Labour’s leadership has recognised that North Sea oil and gas will be with us for decades to come and they have committed to managing this strategic national asset in a way that does not jeopardise jobs. They now need to deliver on their commitment to support our industry.”
Liebour doing what it does best – lying.
It is quite firmly denied as not true, is it just a scare story.
They say,
But Miliband’s department hit back at the claims, telling City A.M.: “This piece is a complete fabrication – it invents meetings and decisions that have not taken place.
“As previously stated, we will not issue new licences to explore new fields. We will also not revoke existing oil and gas licences and will manage existing fields for the entirety of their lifespan.
“Just Stop Oil” activists are claiming this as partial victory in their campaign!
I’m sure they are, while wearing their plastic trainers and polyester tee-shirts all derived from oil products.
Just stop oil….should understand that we have just had an election…respect the result…allow the government to govern…stop bullying the country..
There will be things that no body likes or understands…at least we have a government…in France at the moment its total chaos.
In his first address to the department on Monday, Miliband said one of his priorities was “creating good jobs in Britain’s industrial heartlands, including a just transition for the industries based in the North Sea”.
But the Scottish Conservatives have accused him of being “reckless”.
MP Andrew Bowie – a former energy minister who retained his West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine seat last week – has called for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to reverse the decision.
He said: “The new energy secretary is happy to turn off the taps in the North Sea and put tens of thousands of jobs at risk. His economic and environmentally illiterate policy of banning further exploration – which is supported by the SNP – is even opposed by his own officials.”
Who knows? Knee jerk?
The march towards energy poverty in the UK continues:-
“Co-conspirators will remember Miatta Fahnbulleh, new MP for Peckham, who is constantly billed as a “rising star” in the Labour Party and has been immediately promoted as an energy minister. Despite spending all of five days as an MP…
Fahnbulleh is formerly head of the capitalism-sceptic New Economics Foundation which, under her leadership, advocated nationalisation of banks and creation of new “green” banks with taxpayer funds. On top of that would be a block on private banks lending to anyone with a “large amount of greenhouse gas emissions” and “penalisation of banks that provide too many carbon-intensive loans”…
The minister, who has been advising Ed Miliband, has personally spent much of the last two years calling for even more and higher windfall taxes on oil and gas producers, and, even more worryingly, the creation of large nationalised energy companies to “flood the market“, accompanied by the introduction of “free basic energy” for everyone.
Oh Dear
The Telegraph and all the other right wing media outlets will be spouting all sorts of anti Labour rubbish for the next five years,no doubt. As mentioned already in this post, they and others need to accept the result of the election and respect the democratic will of the people and get behind the leaders of the country.

Absolutely no chance whatsoever.
We got rid of the Fake Tories, now Fake Labour are fair game.
They are fake because they don’t care about working people, it’s all about their left-wing political dogma.

I accept the price of punishing Sunak and Co is the current government, they won’t be much different just more unreasonable.
(In the midst of the worse crimewave on record the answer – let the prisoners out. Never mind justice for the victims or rehabilitation of the convicts, let them out to offend again).
I cannot however respect the individuals who form the government but I do respect the fact that they are in power by virtue of being elected and I think I still respect the offices.
I did wonder about starting a thread on the prisoner issue ie early release or not being sent down at all. As BJ says there’s little concern for the victim here
One of the main problems is that there aren’t the systems in place in society to deal with those not in custody ,probation etc everything is already struggling without this influx
I have no doubt Mr Timpson is a very caring well meaning person and his company’s schemes dealing with ex prisoners etc have been successful,he will have talked to a lot of prisoners and (probably )some should not be there but…..people say what you want to hear and often the types who end in prison are the sort that say the right thing. (As well as knowing the law better than the arresting officer)
The consensus among my police acquaintances seems to be it won’t be long before someone is freed who shouldn’t have been, something bad will happen because of this and there will be uproar

Are you suggesting that we have no right to comment?
please….they won the election ,I totally respect the result….but if you think they can do as they like with no comment from those that disagree…..no way!
Freedom of speech…you don’t have to agree but please allow an opinion.
So far ,as far as I’m concerned ..no real problem.
Anti labour rubbish……well that takes the biscuit from someone who spouted anti Tory posts for as long as I can remember…how about stopping the rhetoric and looking at any achievements…? How about being positive ?Im trying but getting fed up with your constant sniping.

The first thing that should happen is that the UK and other countries in Europe must stop importing LPG from Russia in tankers. Where is the sense in supplying Ukraine with Billions of pounds/dollars worth of weapons while buying gas from Russia which they in turn use to buy and build weapons to use against Ukraine. This is batsh*t crazy………
Agreeing with me?…if that’s agreeing ..lord help me.
stop sniping ..stop going on about the last government …you’ll have plenty to think about with the next few years.
Tony Blair allowed 5 million immigrants in…he sold the countries brand names…cars that were proudly made in Great Britain now made in China…given away for nothing…the brands were the part he should have hung on to .
Let them govern…I always say that any democracy gets the government it deserves…sometimes sadly.
We are all on the train…being carried along …exactly as we were with Boris at the helm…like it or not.
with communications as they are…countries are divided…not just the Uk…France …America…people believe what they read…see…we will all be able to judge the success.
so when you go on about the right wing press…think a little..even the sun came in behind Starmer.,are you suggesting that we should only be told what suits the government in power?no debate…no disclosures…please.
