It is now almost the middle of June and we had to light the fire last night. I do not think we have had a fire this late before. We are in mid Brittany, is it the same elsewhere?
The tomatoes have had plenty of flowers but no fruit has formed.
No doubt though, the media will report that June has been the hottest on record to go with their climate change agenda.
13th June 2024 at 9:16 am #600362For sure, I can’t remember a June as cold as this. No doubt it’s due to ….er…..global warming.
13th June 2024 at 10:00 am #600364Same here in Sud-Manche. Been lighting the wood burner most evenings.
Global Warming?? When do we get the warming part??
I stood outside two or three days ago at around midday, one of those days when there was a clear blue sky, not a cloud visible.
I felt that the heat from the sun wasn’t as hot as a typical day in June that we have been used to in recent years, considering that it’s a week or so before the summer solstice when the sun is right overhead at midday. The air temperature was only about 14 C due to the cold wind from the north/north west.
Maybe changes are afoot in space weather?
Yep, middle of June and morning temperatures are struggling to reach double figures. I look out of the window this morning and it is overcast, dark and raining. I think summer was on a Wednesday last year.
Global warming? …………………..seriously

We’re filling the plunge pool….thinking of mini ice skating!
decision was taken on hottish day last week….must be mad!
Its all my fault of course…..I actually decided to grow tomatoes…bought three plants…inspired by everyone’s posts!
They are now covered in a plastic bag to protect them from the cold…..maybe I’ll lend them my hot water bottle…no way…I need it.
I’m still wearing my socks & boots. I normally have my sandals out & the boots stored away by now. The cherries are still small & green & the walnuts aren’t very big either. I’ve also noticed that the maize is way behind & the barley & wheat is no where near turning golden.
16th June 2024 at 11:12 am #600497I had to put the butter in the fridge to warm it up!
