No troubles this morning but am very familiar with your current problem Seahorse. Ours seems to drop out frequently during the day and then comes back on without any remedial action. It also seems selective in that one appliance will work while another will not. The laptop will say ‘connected, secured’ but there is no action. On other occasions the livebox will itself say that it is connected but there is no internet. I assume that here as in the UK and elsewhere as demand increases they are struggling to provide the service. That said friends not ten kms away have excellent service with five times delivery power.
Its all the luck of the draw here as elsewhere methinks.
Same here folks, I get told server cannot be found, but minutes later it appears. Listening to internet radio, wife’s tablet is quite happy, so wifi is working but computer tells me no service. This happens periodically and randomly and then cures itself. This morning is particularily bad.
Not just beeing a numpty this morning then. I can, for instance get on to the log in page of Ebay, then when I go to search, it says the server cannot be found. Obviously not my ‘puter, but an outside source then.
Thank the heavens UiB is still online !!
Anonymous16th November 2016 at 11:06 am #61281Its not always the service provider, its more likely to be heavy traffic on the website. If every site is the same its the server, if you can log on some sites and not others its heavy traffic. Fibre is being rolled out everywhere to speed up connection, but doesn’t matter how fast your speed is if the website can’t handle the it.

Anonymous16th November 2016 at 2:41 pm #61353I have found out that I’m having less problems with Firefox than with Microsoft. Comme d’hab.
16th November 2016 at 4:12 pm #61417Definitely worth checking your system drivers are up to date. Have sorted two laptops this week, one Lenovo less than one year old that needed 11 Lenevo AUTHORISED drivers to be updated and also a Toshiba laptop requiring nine new drivers .
The various manufacturers are struggling to keep up with Microsoft system updates, hence many strange things have been happening these last two weeks.
The Lenovo laptop needed an updated network card driver as part of the update process.
Unfortunately Microsoft have a habit of producing their own generic drivers and installing them to our computers during updates, however their “one fits all” policy does not work! When you look at your Device manager it tells you all drivers are up to date when in fact they are not!
Would suggest you all check your computer manufacturers websites and check for driver updates for your particular product. Most manufacturers have small programmes built into their sites to identify your exact computer model and will then offer the correct updated drivers to make your system work correctly.
