Hi everyone, just joined. My wife and I currently live just north of Frankfurt, she’s German and I’m British. She’s still working and I’m retired. Our aim is to move to Brittany, possibly Finistere as we have friends there, when she stops work in two years time. Clearly we’re got plenty of time to plan everything but it’s surprising how time flys when you get old! What I would like to know at this point is what are the main towns that expats live in or around? Thanks in advance. Simon
i would suggest nearer to the coast – there are some nice towns in 56 – Quimper – Vanne – Aurey – to name a few. Personally, i would not choose rural towns – unless you like being rural. The harbour towns are expensive but make travel easier.. not that people are travelling nowadays. Remember resale is much better in the larger towns than in the rural areas. i was going to post some links on both topics – travel, moving, areas, that’s why i joined the forum, but since covid, the rules keep changing and nothing is stable.
hello, just registered here. i and my partner live in Brittany, just outside of langourla, cotes d’amour, and hope that 1 day we will enjoy it here. We are still struggling with the bureaucracy that is France. I do feel that is our own fault for not researching properly, so busy looking at properties. We have made a start with the help of our “hand holder” but still have some things still to do. I think i might feel better in being able to share with someone else and i hope whoever reads my first little blog, dont think i am not happy i came, because i am and hope when we have dealt with things, hopefully we will be able to appreciate beautiful brittany.
I have just joined so am saying hi.
I live on the edge of a tiny village near Merdrignac and Broons with my other half.
We have had the house nearly 11 years but are now here permanently. We love being here and despite the challenges it’s a nice life!
Ok so looking forward to meeting some of you ( virtually)
Hello Sharimay, don’t be surprised if you haven’t got too many replies on the welcome topic, I think people are so used to see it on top of the screen that they don’t look at it anymore

Hello to everyone, I’m a waif and stray from UiB
I was one of the original members of UiN known as brian61. The 61 was because at that time I was living in the 61 Orne. Times have changed and I am now living in 14 Calvados so it seemed like the right time to change my user name to brian14.
Will be using the same thumbnail (if I can get it to work.
Looking foreward to interesting discussions
Hello all, Just joined this site as I was previously on United in Normandy. I am in 76 (Seine-Maritime). I recognise Brian 14 (was 61) so hello Just getting my head round this new site – has it been merged with an existing site as a lot of posts on here already?!
My name is Scott.
Is anyone driving to the UK via Eurotunnel early next week?
If so do you have space for myself and my cat Mimo? I will pay the costs of the trip through the tunnel. Drop me off in Folkestone? I’m in Caen, Normandy. But I can drive to Calais in rental car.

I’m a newbie to this site, having just joined.
Hubby and I are currently living in the Correze, having moved into our house the day before France’s nationwide confinement. Whew! Just in time. Little did we know that we would be stuck for a few months, not being able to go anywhere. Being where we are, in a small hamlet in the countryside, we took time to explore woodlands, paths and tracks, and have fallen in love with the area.
Finding this website was a nice surprise. If anyone lives in the Correze or nearby areas, please shout.
