I like your MG! The thumbnail looks like a B. I had a 68 Midget and to this day I have never had so much fun with a car.
I just joined today so if I do something odd (like accidentally hit a don’t like button) it is completely because I am forum lame.
I have been dipping in and out of the forum for a while and have finally got round to actually joining. We have been in France for the best part of 9 years and for eight and a half have been living in the beautiful Monts D’Arrée in Finistère. Our absolute passion is gardening and, under ‘normal’ circumstances we open our garden 3 weekends a year as part of the association Open Gardens/Jardins Ouverts to raise money for French Childrens charities.
Hi All, new member here who hasn’t yet worked out how to change his profile picture so excuse the default one! My main reason for registering is to ask some questions about the housing market in Brittany and how it has been affected by Brexit and Covid – I’ll post specific questions in dedicated threads but I am very interested to hear from people “on the ground” what the current situation is and what people expect to transpire over the next 12-14 months. We are trying to figure out whether our rough working plan is actually possible or not, so any comments on current supply and prices, and expected changes in the coming months would be very much appreciated.
My name is Will and I live in Lanrivain (22480), Cotes d’Armor. I have lived here happily for the past 5 years and now it seems that due to Brexit some dark clouds are on the horizon.
I will attempt to contribute any knowledge on a subject I am in possession of freely and punctually to assist fellow ‘ex-pats’/immigrants alike. We all need help occasionally and this is vital for a painless integration into the French way of life and to alleviate any feelings of being isolated and alone.
My experiences thus far re work have been; Graphic design (commercial company + newspapers), Territorial Army (Infantry), air steward and sea steward, bus + coach driver and house and pet sitting services.
I will be posting various questions on the forums platform in the hope that I may benefit from others knowledge and experience in Brittany and likewise that I might prove useful to others in their quest for answers!
I am also open to offers regarding work needed as I am physically able (and willing!) to undertake such projects in my free time.
So, there we are. Wishing all a Covid free 2021 and a fine summer to come (please Lord)!!!
Kind regards, Will.
Hi everyone, just joined. My wife and I currently live just north of Frankfurt, she’s German and I’m British. She’s still working and I’m retired. Our aim is to move to Brittany, possibly Finistere as we have friends there, when she stops work in two years time. Clearly we’re got plenty of time to plan everything but it’s surprising how time flys when you get old! What I would like to know at this point is what are the main towns that expats live in or around? Thanks in advance. Simon
hello user name is Leela – we lived in Brittany until last year and now back in Uk. (Launceston.) I can’t remember how to post a profile photo, can someone help.
And how do i reduce the size of photos? – Do i have to that before posting here or is there a tool on the forum that does i can use? thanks so much.

i would suggest nearer to the coast – there are some nice towns in 56 – Quimper – Vanne – Aurey – to name a few. Personally, i would not choose rural towns – unless you like being rural. The harbour towns are expensive but make travel easier.. not that people are travelling nowadays. Remember resale is much better in the larger towns than in the rural areas. i was going to post some links on both topics – travel, moving, areas, that’s why i joined the forum, but since covid, the rules keep changing and nothing is stable.
hello, just registered here. i and my partner live in Brittany, just outside of langourla, cotes d’amour, and hope that 1 day we will enjoy it here. We are still struggling with the bureaucracy that is France. I do feel that is our own fault for not researching properly, so busy looking at properties. We have made a start with the help of our “hand holder” but still have some things still to do. I think i might feel better in being able to share with someone else and i hope whoever reads my first little blog, dont think i am not happy i came, because i am and hope when we have dealt with things, hopefully we will be able to appreciate beautiful brittany.
I have just joined so am saying hi.
I live on the edge of a tiny village near Merdrignac and Broons with my other half.
We have had the house nearly 11 years but are now here permanently. We love being here and despite the challenges it’s a nice life!
Ok so looking forward to meeting some of you ( virtually)
Hello Sharimay, don’t be surprised if you haven’t got too many replies on the welcome topic, I think people are so used to see it on top of the screen that they don’t look at it anymore
