A relative has returned to England from a foreign trip. He ordered and paid for a Day 2 covid test but it did not arrive.

He contacted the supplier who provided tracking details.

Now over a week later he has made contact with the Post Office who have stated that he will not be getting it. They are short staffed and they have had to rent additional warehousing to store the packages.

He has not been contacted by anyone regarding his failure to send back his test. What then is the point of them, is it just another fund raiser?

Our two day test arrived back on my iPad …8 days after I returned to France following a 5 day trip…

it’s a nonsense…someone is making lots of money…probably Matt Hancock…from his days as health minister.

we did our day 2 tests, sent them back in the royal mail (tracked) envelopes, they arrived at their destination

never heard back , as far as I know the tests were never processed

no follow up from the UK authorities, so I may as well have dumped them in the bin

just another UK money making scam

As previously reported….I paid for mine and it arrived but I could not register it on the site (despite contacting the company) so I just brought it home.

My wife reports that in Jersey and Guernsey nobody asks for them and people throw them over the side of the ferry. Maybe that is a generalisation but is nonetheless indicative of the scam.

We sailed on the 8/11 and returned on 15/11. We gave a family member’s address and we are still waiting for our 2 day LFT to arrive. I emailed the supplier, VIVO, when we retuned to France, and told them asking for a refund but have heard nothing back as yet. Luckily, Boris said he has stopped all the fake/illegal companies so I’m sure there is a simple explantion and we’ll get our money back……

Don’t hold your breath Jo….ours came online 8 days after we returned to France…

    115£s….straight into someone’s pocket.

    it’s a nonsense.

“My wife reports that in Jersey and Guernsey nobody asks for them and people throw them over the side of the ferry. Maybe that is a generalisation but is nonetheless indicative of the scam.”

They throw plastic into the sea, really? That’s absolutely disgraceful regardless of anything else. It is a stupid policy but that’s no excuse for people to make things worse by behaving ignorantly and crassly Surely everybody these days is aware of the massive problems of plastic pollution of the oceans, it’s gobsmacking that some folk still use the sea as their personal dustbin.

Although I don’t understand the comment because why would they be carrying tests with them in the first place? The day 2 test is posted to where you will be staying, to be taken after you arrive. It’s not sent to you before you set off.

Eat my hat…when you cross for 5/6 days…you test effectively on your 3rd day…the first day is day 0….we came home on the Sunday…posted our results on the Saturday…I had the r esults on my iPad…8 days later…safely back in France.

what good did those results do anyone?

certainly not the hotels we stayed in…

You cannot cross the channel to the Uk unless you are vaccinated …arriving in the Uk where everyone is un masked…free to move around…It’s a nonsense….but at 50£ a head….an expensive nonsense.

    19th November 2021 at 12:03 pm #563371

2 day tests are available at €12 which my wife is booking and friends who are returning for the 2nd time in two weeks have paid €12 each as well, reports are said to be of even cheaper tests becoming available

Hallelujah…at least the cost is going down….as the service is dreadful…it should be free.

Yes I had to go back in October when it was still PCR tests only.  I used Testing for All which I think is Randox for around £40. In fact it worked as it is supposed to – I landed on the Saturday, test arrived by courier on the Sunday, I did it immediately (as per instructions, it said the test could be taken any time during the first 2 days after arrival) and posted it straight back and I got the results on the Wednesday. Even though it went like clockwork I still think it’s a pointless procedure and a complete rip off, expensive nonsense as you say.

But that is no excuse for people on ferries throwing plastic into the ocean.

Test kits arrived the day after we left to come home,so they were put straight in the bin unopened. What we have to remember is that a lot of these companies were awarded contracts despite having no previous experience in this field, also, companies with experience in this field were ignored by the UK Gov,the whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I’ve got to order a day 2 test soon before going to the UK, I still can’t help feeling it’s a waste of money and time, and achieves nothing.

    20th November 2021 at 11:13 am #563442

You will need one though as you require the reference number on your PLF to be able to travel back to the UK. Yep waste of money but then the Government have wasted an awful lot of money since 2010.
