Please get your appointments for Covid and grippe…I have mine for the 15 th October…too late as I tested positive for Covid today…there’s a lot around.
i called my gp …he’s seeing me tonight as I’m on immunotherapy and will possibly need some support.,there’s an anti viral treatment that you can be given if you meet the criteria..ie immunosuppressed…or other things..
Oh Marmite, what are you like?
So many people have it that we know. Far more in fact than we have ever known. Is Mr M OK or does he have it too?
Good luck at the Doctors and I wish you well soon.
We haven’t heard from Fruitcake and I hope she and her family are on the mend.
We are also thinking about poor JD and Mme JD.
24th September 2024 at 6:28 pm #603698So sorry to hear that Marmite. Hope you get the anti viral you need and that for you it will only be like a light cold!
Sorry to hear you have Covid Marmite but pleased you have your antivirals. There does seem to be a lot around. We went to the UK recently, were concerned about the ferry so booked a cabin and wore masks in public. For the first time ever we didn’t even catch a cold!
25th September 2024 at 8:06 am #603710Agree, the virus is still lurking, I arrived from the UK last Monday, then spent the next 4 days in bed which is unheard of for me. Up and about now, just the lingering cough, lack of energy, and no taste/smell. And I’ve had all of the boosters.
25th September 2024 at 10:57 am #603716received letter from CPAM yesterday inviting us to have the combined covid / grippe Jab, but as Marmite said it is not available until the 15th
this is for SWMB who is Immune Compromised and her mother who is in her Eighties
25th September 2024 at 11:54 am #603722When I received our letter I went straight to our local pharmacy to ask for a rdv for the Covid jab. They were very vague saying there was no stock yet and no rdv’s being offered yet!
I know from past experience that the flu jab will be available on the 15th. October and I will be first in the queue outside the pharmacy that morning!
I am not surprised to read the other posts….last time we were in Lidl, not only was the odd customer wearing a mask, but the check out girl as well! We had let our guards down a bit recently but are now back into full mask mode in any shop or similar environment.
Stay Safe folks
Mrs T and me in the Doctor’s waiting room yesterday evening wearing masks thankfully. The other half a dozen or so patients unmasked, with lots of coughing and spluttering. In the UK my daughter is a Nurse Practitioner and obviously sees many patients. She recently caught her fourth round of covid, bless her.
While the new strain spreading it is not necessarily more deadly, it does appear to be more contagious. It is mentioned that If you come in contact with someone who has this new strain or with the virus on a surface, then you’re more likely to become COVID-19-positive.
The new strain is more contagious…..for most people it’s no worse than a heavy cold…for the elderly…those with immunosuppressive illnesses..it can be deadly…shifting to pneumonia..very quickly.
its really hard…you may not even know you’re infected..that’s the problem.
my neighbour had no idea she was infectious…a quick hug was all it took.
The vaccine is available to the pharmacists from the 5 th October…but the vaccine program won’t start until the 15 th…a joint flu ..COVID program.
If your pharmacy is stonewalling you…try another…they have a duty of care.
Hi all
Just quickly popped in and saw this COVID post.
This strain is highly contagious. As I said previously from the time I arrived at Heathrow airport, during my 24 hrs in Singapore and until I came out of Perth airport, with the exception of when eating, I wore a double mask, a thick one with a lining over a disposable one and changed the disposable one twice. I used hand gel constantly.
I arrived on Sunday, on Monday my niece took me to meet her neighbour, I briefly.shook her hand, had no other contact did not eat & drink there. Tues I had COVID, Wednesday my nephew & his wife had it & by Thursday the neighbour did.
Today is my ninth day & I am still testing positive. None of us have felt ill but have had bad coughs and bunged up noses.
I hope you don’t feel too poorly Marmite.
26th September 2024 at 9:04 pm #603750Tried the pharmacy again the other day Luckily the owner/pharmacist herself served us and I took the opportunity to ask her what the update was. She said both vaccines were available from the 15th. Oct. and it is possible to have both at the same time. Whether or not this meant a combined dose or two separate ones I don’t know.
Visited GP on Wednesday, masks have stayed obligatory since start of Covid (she works alone), before leaving she told us that Covid is rife again and keep wearing your masks when you go out. Visited oncology clinic Thursday – the only people wearing masks!
