Apart from the bikes, doesn’t seem to have much happening there.
It doesn’t help that they closed the tax office and that Kerbian farms pulled out due to personal reasons.
What makes it even worse is the determination of the Intermache management to downgrade their services in pursuit of lower costs.
It is now no longer possible to buy fresh fish.
To buy gas one now has to go into the shop, pay and then wait outside by the gas for a staff member to become available and to walk slowly to you invariably smoking.
The fresh meat counter is shrinking in favour of more pre-packaged things and very often they do not have the reduced items that they promote in the promos that Mme La Poste delivers.
We very rarely shop there now.
I am amazed. Years ago I ventured to poke my nose inside and couldn’t wait to get back out again. I trust it is much different today.
Have you been bold enough to go into the secondhand shop a little further along? Everyone I speak to about it has the same opinion. As soon as you are inside the “eyes” are following you around, and giving the impression you are a shoplifter waiting a chance to nick something. Not a welcoming smile but an air of suspicion.
Never again.
SS, if you think that’s bad you probably should avoid the big posh antiques centre at the bottom of the hill near the roundabout. Its a massive place with many rooms of interesting old things but they are instantly upon you like Inspector Cluso and if you dare stop to admire an object a person waving a duster is immediately right up against you squirting furniture polish all around, as if it were a can of insect repellent and you were a bug!
Strange way to run a business.
I know the place your are talking about. We went there once to have a look around, mostly out of surprise to find something actually open on a Sunday. To be honest, we didn’t come away with the same feeling of distrust that you describe. Helpful but not intrusive on that occasion. Things may have changed since then. Maybe there is a lot of thieving going on in the area.
It changed hands about three or four years ago, you could have a deal with the old French chap who used to be there. The current owners have done a lot of work and spent a lot of money on the place which is kept immaculate but stinks of intrusive weird perfume
