West country boy makes such a strong point…in effect it will be as before…if you’re in France for longer than 180 days…you need a carte de séjour …as you are effectively resident.
As for the increase in charges….I’m afraid it’s the same everywhere…if your pockets are deep enough for a second home which presumably is empty for much of the year…you pay.
