Just a small part of the line of Chenilles Processionnaires crossing the path ahead of us when I walked our dogs with friends yesterday.  Fortunately I saw the caterpillars before the dogs did.  Remember to keep (yourself and) pets well away from these nasty creatures who leave their hairs everywhere when, from February, they descend from their white “candy floss” nests seen in some pine trees.

Haven’t seen any of these horrors in the flesh, but have seen lots of nests. They,I have read, only nest in particular pine trees, luckily there are none near us.
